Emotion House
Current Project
SUMMARY
Emotion House is a transformative installation project that aims to provide a safe space for emotional expression within the community. It originates from personal experiences and societal observations and seeks to address the lack of accessible emotional outlets. The project’s centerpiece, the Emotiphone Booth, has already garnered success, inviting participants to share their feelings and experiences in a supportive environment.
Working with a group of student engineers, the Emotiphone will become a permanent installation in the USC Peace Garden, where any community member can partake and find safety in sharing their deeper emotions in connection to others. Emotion House will ultimately partner with The Relational Center and Painted Brain to share and highlight the emotional and environmental sustainability created through this project.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
- Design and create a transformative space within the USC Campus that serves as a haven for students to freely express their emotions, particularly feelings of loss and grief.
- Provide resources and information to participants to help them navigate emotional distress and promote mental well-being.
- Expand the accessibility of Emotion House beyond the USC community by establishing partnerships with external events like Yipps and CicLAvia.
- Incorporate sustainable practices, such as using solar-powered generators and high-quality materials, to enhance the environmental impact and longevity of Emotion House.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive community within Emotion House, encouraging participants to share their experiences and emotions in a safe and nonjudgmental environment.
