Projection Mapping LA Chinatown

Projection Mapping LA Chinatown

Current Project

SUMMARY

Projection Mapping for Chinatown is a community-driven initiative that aims to tackle the pressing issue of gentrification in Los Angeles’ Chinatown. The project partners with the Chinatown Community of Equitable Development (CCED) and seeks to empower the community through projection mapping and visual storytelling workshops. By uniting small businesses and residents through artistic expression and addressing shared challenges, the project endeavors to amplify their stories of gentrification through projection-mapped visuals.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

  • Collaborate with Chinatown community members, particularly small business owners, to amplify their stories of gentrification through projection-mapped visuals.
  • Create a platform for community connection and dialogue among small business owners to address the challenges of displacement.
  • Empower small business owners by providing a means for them to share their stories and concerns about evictions, transforming isolated struggles into a shared narrative of resilience and resistance against gentrification.
